Mitsubishi revealed its all-new Pajero Sport in Thailand (August 2015) prior to sales commencing across Asia and sales as the new Mitsubishi Challenger in Australia.
The large SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) 4x4 may be badged as the Shogun Sport to come to the UK in the future - fingers crossed in 2016.
After the Thailand reveal, Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi's UK Managing Director, replied to a tweet from Auto Express claiming that it was “far from impossible” that the Shogun Sport could be homologated and converted for European release at a later date. He went on to say that the previous model – axed from showrooms back in 2006 and never replaced – “sold well” over here, hinting that a return could be on the cards. (Auto Express report dated 7 August 2015)
The new Sport model has contemporary looks and styling, based on the platform of the all-new L200 which is launching in the UK, September 2015. A similar ride height and door profile to the new L200, the Sport accomodates seven full-size seats.
The interior high level of finish includes options of quality leather trim, central large touch LCD screen with 360-degree view camera, multi-function steering wheel, dual climate zone air conditioner and Forward Collision autobraking.
The exterior finish won't disappoint either including eye-catching front LED lights, an all new tail light cluster running all the way down to the bumper and 18" alloy wheels. Under the bonnet the current engine is the economical 2.4-litre MIVEC2 four-cylinder diesel which emits less than 200g/km of CO2.
As across the current Mitsubishi range, there is no compromise on safety with the new Sport featuring Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control, 7 airbags together with the unique Mitsubishi super select 4x4 system which enables driving in two or four wheel drive on any terrain.
